UPDATE 2: Russian oil, gas, power exports unaffected by Chinese flu

MOSCOW, Jan 31 (PRIME) -- The spread of the Chinese coronavirus did not affect Russia’s oil, gas and power exports, Gazprom, Inter RAO, and Transneft said on Friday.

“Unlike other types of supplies, by railway or ship, there is no personal contact during pipeline traffic,” Igor Dyomin, an aide to Transneft’s oil pipeline monopoly told PRIME.

An Inter RAO spokesperson said that power exports to China was higher than last January and met the plan for the month.

“The situation with coronavirus in China by no means affected gas exports via Sila Sibiri,” Gazprom said in a statement.

Truck producer Kamaz said it could change the production schedule in March as the coronavirus may break the supply of parts from China.

“It was reported during a meeting that February production was fully back up with components. But the risk of production plans adjustments can emerge from March if the spread of coronavirus in China continues and restrictive global measures are taken,” Kamaz said.

“It was emphasized that most components regardless of the country of manufacturing have elements produced in China. Besides, some components are produced only in China.”

The World Health Organization said that the outbreak of coronavirus was a global emergency. About 9,700 people contracted the virus, 213 of whom died.
